Tanweer Productions is a Greek film and television production company founded in 2018 by Joseph Samaan as part of the Tanweer Group. Based in Athens, the company focuses on producing high-quality cinema, television and digital content for the Greek and international market, drawing on the group’s long-standing experience in film distribution and the extensive producing career of Dionyssis Samiotis.The company quickly established a presence in Greek cinema with My Name Is Eftihia (2019), directed by Angelos Frantzis, which became a major box-office success and won eight Hellenic Film Academy Awards, including Best Film. It followed with Smyrna (2021), directed by Gregory Karantinakis, one of the most ambitious and highest-budget Greek productions of its time, and The Murderess (2023), directed by Eva Nathena and based on Alexandros Papadiamantis’ acclaimed novel.Tanweer Productions has also developed a strong presence in television, producing high-end series and mini-series for both public and private broadcasters. Its collaborations with COSMOTE TV include productions such as 42°C and 17 Threads, while the company has also been involved in the international co-production So Long, Marianne, based on the relationship between Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen.Among its more recent projects is Rififi, a six-episode drama and heist mini-series produced for COSMOTE TV and inspired by the infamous 1992 Athens bank robbery. Directed by Sotiris Tsafoulias, the series combines the historical event with a fictional exploration of the people and circumstances surrounding it. Tanweer Productions served as the production company, with Dionyssis Samiotis as producer.Through its work across cinema, television and international co-productions, Tanweer Productions has become one of the notable production companies in contemporary Greek entertainment, combining local stories and talent
